We just recently purchased the Ironmaster Quick Lock 80 lbs Adjustable Kettlebell. Â It seemed a little pricey at $259, but after I did some quick math on how much the total cost would be for a set of kettlebells of comparable weights, this was actually a great deal. Â Free shipping too.
Anyway, I’m pretty pleased with this thing. Â It’s perfect for someone who doesn’t have much space and has nowhere to store a family of kettlebells. Â It would also be great for a personal trainer who does a lot of traveling-lots of flexibility with this kettlebell.
Without any added plates, the base weight is 22.5 lbs. Â I wish it was a little lower to accommodate more fitness levels, but it’s not too bad. Â There are 9 total plates ranging from 2.5-22.5 pounds. Â There are two quick-lock screws of different lengths, based on weight up to 57.5lbs or the full 80lbs.
It is very simple to assemble and change weights. Â Don’t be a fool like me and skip the instructions. They are actually quite useful(!), plus the Ironmaster has a pdf version of them available online in case you “accidentally” throw yours away.
It’s too soon to say, but I foresee the chrome quick-lock screw taking a pretty decent beating with regular use. Plus, the threads on the base near the handle are open to the air and might become corroded over time. Â I’ll keep you posted.
This adjustable kettlebell definitely looks a little awkward, but after comparing it to my Rogue 80lb kettlebell, I found that it performs similarly, with a typical motion. Â The handle is smooth and the kettlebell doesn’t bang into your arm while completing a snatch like I thought it would.
All-in-all, a very solid purchase!
